12 Songs: Dane Matson - Round 3

12 Songs: Dane Matson - Round 3

For the third week in a row we’re running with Dane Matson’s 12 Songs. This one pummels the ear drum with sticks. Let’s hear from Dane on the reason for his picks.

These have a lot of sick intros especially on the drums. One of the first times Nirvana played “Scentless Apprentice” was in Rio and it went about 10 minutes long.  Kurt showed his privates to the camera.  Needless to say, it became a famous show.

The Melvins song “Boris” is the reason why Boris named their band after this song.

“Fingers and Toe”s by Screamfeeder was a Wardo song from What’s Really Goin’ Wrong.

“Within You Without You” and “Interstellar Overdrive” is a bit of psychedelic progression that inspired a lot of the bands in this playlist.

This bad ass playlist will get you psyched to surf. Fugazi song “Slo Crostic” intro with guitar and no lyrics. I love the drums in this song. One of my favorites.—Dane Matson
