12 Songs: Pale Fire

12 Songs: Pale Fire

This week we’re following up a playlist we did in March, one we somewhat unimaginatively titled “The Slow Burn Set.” It’s a sequel, sure, but more of a spiritual sequel; this one burns a bit brighter, a bit longer - now with more ghosts! Featuring:

Dorothy Ashby. Queen of the sci-fi harp, roving sonic explorer.

Grandaddy. A Track from “The Sophtware Slump”, our second favorite album about digital paranoia and angsty computers.

Wes Montgomery. A jazz guitar giant does his take on “A Day in the Life” that - depending on your tastes - might be better than the original.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Jaded? Maybe. But Anton and co. have been staying busy the last few years, and occasionally manage to tap back into the magic of their earlier work.

Section 25. Repetitive post-punk weirdness courtesy of Factory records. Think Neu meets Joy Division.
