Best Sections of All-Time: Creepy Fingers and Label Kills
We probably underestimate the impact surf and skate films have on our young subconscious. Or maybe we are very aware. Either way, I bet we all know the couple films that put us on our style path and I’m certain we know the parts song for song, clip by clip .
Chamber’s Jesse Guglielmana has been guiding our way this week and he brought to life two iconic vids: Skate vid Label Kills from 2001 and surf vid Creepy Fingers — a Ryan Thomas gem from 2014.
Skate: Label Kills
“I was around 7 or 8 and my next door neighbor was the drummer of JFA and was a full skate nerd. I would always be skating in the driveway and one day he came up to me with a VHS of The Black Label video Label Kills and said go inside and watch this. I did, and my pre-pubescent mind was blown. Thanks Carter for introducing me to pure raw skateboarding. The first part Jason Adams completely shaped the way I approach skating.”—Jesse Guglielmana
Surf: Creepy Fingers
“Fast forward a few years after my family made the move to Kauai. I entered my first Irons Brothers Pinetrees classic. Managed to make my way to the final and got last, but in that gift bag there was a piece of gold in the form of a DVD titled Creepy Fingers. My first introduction to a surf movie made in the most obscure, twisted, honest, and beautiful display of creative expression.”—Jesse Guglielmana
