Crank up the Contrast: Letty Mortensen and Wade Carmichael

With the tour on hold, travel halted, and getting to new waves trickier than usual, and Lowers in a constant state of firing, clips are starting to feel shall I say: a little sleepy, or…similar. But I just got whipped into this one of Letty Mortensen by his pal Jamie Krups who basically said, “Yo Travis, watch this vid called “Riddled", Letty is one of the boys and he rips.” So I watched, and Jamie was very right. Check out Letty and prepare to hear more once he’s let loose on the planet.

In stark contrast, I found this vid of Wade original — mostly because I’ve never seen Wade Carmichael surf without a comp jersey before. His new Rusty’s looks extra spicy. It’s a pleasure to see a dude with that Australian keg sort of body type destroying waves at the speed at which he does (reminiscent of a bearded regular foot Mick Lowe or something). Apparently these are “throwaways” from the great “Covid Swell” of 2020, but regardless, sure makes me kind of want to watch a hell of a lot more Wade surfing sans jersey.—Travis Ferré
