I like to think I’ve experienced a lot in my run at life. Some pretty damn good stuff. Surfed and traveled and seen and met some wonderful people. I’d die a blessed and experienced man by my assessment right now. But there’s also some pretty basic stuff I haven’t done. Like I’ve never been inside a gym. Or surfed a wave pool (never will). And my dirtiest California regular foot surfer secret is that I’ve never surfed Rincon (I can sorta explain). So as weird as those are, I’ve also never made it through a podcast — although I have been on a few (including L8Night with Choccy), which was super fun and basically a hangout with friends and many Modelos.

That’s probably not the most graceful way to get you to listen to me talk on the WSL’s new podcast “The Lineup with Dave Prodan,” but here we are.

Dave Prodan is one of the guys I respect most in this industry. We’ve been paralleling careers for a long time, and he’s always been and always will be my guy inside the WSL fortress. One time he showed up to my office with a 12 pack of Stellas for no reason and if we didn’t have everything figured out by the end of that 12 pack then I don’t know anything.

But back to Podcasts: I do imagine they’re quite nice for long drives or unknown lengths in isolation and quarantine.., hey, look at us! Maybe I’ll dive into some once I’ve tired of re-educating myself with my home bookshelf (holy shit, have you guys read East of Eden?), Down Dog living room yoga and eating and drinking my way through my cupboard and bar archives. Oh, and I gotta finish Tiger King, and next year, Rincon!

I honestly can’t remember what I said, but I believe I called Gabriel Medina the most punk surfer on tour since Andy Irons, chronicled my time at a few surf magazines, aerial surfing, this Inherent Bummer that is now and what I want to do with it.

Here’s a link to all the ways to listen.

Let me know how I do, what I said, write me a note or tell me what you’re up to anytime at hello@InherentBummer.com. I’ll write ya back.—Travis Ferré
