12 Songs: Curated by Dane Matson
San Clemente underground punker Dane Matson (yeah, little brother to CT surfer Kade who you saw in Reel Talk this week) made this week’s 12 Songs playlist. And in true to the music fashion: It was late. Didn’t have a description and one of the songs by GG Allin was so obscure it wasn’t on Spotify so we had to ask him for a replacement…which hasn’t arrived as of press time. All that being said: he nailed it.
This playlist features a Bad Brains song that will remind you of “that 5 x 5 x 19 1/4 part where Andy and Cory surf Waimea shore-break. That alone will ignite your loins to paddle out into any hellhole shore break and rip.
Othe tunes featured are deep Nirvana cuts, Adolescents, obscure Iggy tracks and a Destruction Unit tune that will ensure tinnitus sets in by song 12. Stay tuned for more Dane selects over the next couple weeks. The punk in all of us has been dying to get out and Dane’s here to unlock the door.—Travis
