Have we decided if Style Matters?

Style. Do you know it when you see it? Or is it an invisible aura that floats around the room like the warm sound coming off a vinyl record? Is it David Bowie on stage or limp wrists on a Bruce Irons cutback? Hemingway’s bullfighters in Spain or Curren’s first wave at J-Bay? Kate Moss on a Parisian balcony or Dane Reynolds tuck-knee forehand airs? How can one word tie all these things together?

Over the past few months we explored the idea of style and its role in surfing. Turns out a lot of us feel it’s a damn important part of our wave dance and we’ve especially enjoyed the debates.

Today is the last day to enter Vissla’s “Style Matters” contest (you might as well hit the hashtag #Visslastylematters with a few of your soul arches for a chance at the 10k and a Gerry Lopez model board). Before the entry window ends, we wanted to make sure you watched all 4 episodes and check out some of the entires on our IG.

We’ll be going through all the waves with our panel (Gerry Lopez, Craig Anderson, Kai Neville, Brad Gerlach and Thomas Campbell) over the next few weeks to narrow it down to the most stylish wave of the year.
