12 Songs (+) with Cindy Lee's Diamond Jubilee

Ok, let’s do 12 Songs a little differently this week because this record is as confounding as it is good — and you an’t get it on Spotify or Apple. . You will not find Cindy Lee’s new record Diamond Jubilee on any streaming devises actually…or at record shops — but you can stream it on YouTube (below) or download it on Geocities.

So who is Cindy Lee? Well, we’re kinda piecing it all together ourselves, but they’re defined on Wikipedia as the drag queen hypnagogic pop project of Canadian musician Patrick Flegel, former guitarist and lead singer of Women — who you guess it, isn’t a big fan of the music industry.

Released earlier this week exclusively at those two outlets above, the record has been described as a trove of music genres spanning every era — “Each song is like a foggy transmission from a rock 'n' roll netherworld with its own ghostly canon of beloved hits.” said James Cush of Pitchfork, after giving it a rare 9.1 rating.

Ever since we put it on, everything feels like it’s all going to be OK and if music can do that, we’re in. Hook the radio up to your Youtube and see what happens. There’s more than 2 hours of really really good music waiting to spill into your weekend.—Travis Ferré
