It’s not the end of the world.

Where do fins come from?

Where do fins come from?

Old people like to complain about this generation — they like to complain about every generation actually. And well, they like to complain about everything come to think of it. Old people like to complain. Let’s say that.

But they obviously don’t entirely know what they’re talking about because Luke Worsham is from this generation and he is killing it.

Luke is a local grom who surfs the same wave we surf every day and over the course of the few years we’ve known him, he’s committed himself to fins and improving surfing. The royal surfing. Your surfing.

Futures’ new series “Cutting Through” directed by Blaine Suque (another local ripper around these parts) is a closer look at our fins and the people and surfers behind them and how much love and attention goes into making sure they work.

Luke will take you backstage into the making of your fins while giving you a glimpse at some of the R&D that gets done with John John, Jack Robinson, Ethan Ewing, Billy Kemper and Jordy Smith and how important those dudes think fins are and how much you benefit from their attention to detail and Luke’s note taking and execution back at the factory. .

So remember Luke before you write off the next generation. They aren’t all dancing on TikTok and riding soft tops and doing head stands for the gram. Some are ripping and out there making sure you do too. —Travis
