12 Songs: Chorduroy
Editor’s Note: One of our favorite local discoveries is Chorduroy — a fuzzed out psychedelic rock n roll journey through the intergalactic. They have been so kind as to compliment us and send us good tunes. We asked them to send us a new 12 Songs with their influences in mind. What you get is a fuzzy, sonic feel-good rocking van full of sand, empty cans, smoke and surf wax. Let’s let Taylor from the band tell you more.—Travis
Taylor from Chorduroy here…was pretty stoked when our favorite surf/culture/shit outlet hit us up to share a 12 song playlist with ya’ll, so here it goes…
Had to start it off with Ty [Segall] who’s one of our biggest influences. Most people haven’t heard the “Pig Man Lives” compilation but I’d recommend it (just try not to look at the pig dick on the album cover). From there I wove our last single into a mix of other influences — including selections from our favorite “psych garage” bands, an excellent Neil Young jam (thank God he’s back on Spotify), a trip-tastic garage song from ‘67, and lastly a fuzz laden Melvins jam that’s actually a KISS cover.
