It’s not the end of the world.

Heads Will Roll

Heads Will Roll

I can’t tell you how many times during this unpredictable and every-changing quarantine/partial-quarantine and Black Lives Matter moment that I have woken up to a note from Australian grommet Oscar Langburne about a new project, edit, idea, or rally for the Black Lives Matter and anti-racism movement he was pushing for. Oscar took it upon himself to make anti-racism shirts which he tossed out to those promising to wear ‘em totally free. He’s helped us get in touch with a variety of surfers for “Surf Film” and just been a helpful soul through and through.

He reminds me a lot of Dion Agius. They seem to share this unrelenting and insatiable energy to create both in front of and behind the camera across a variety of mediums and for various positive causes. Very inspiring stuff. Especially from a kid who fractured his leg a few weeks ago and probably hasn’t been feeling tip top. But there’s no stopping him.

This week started with a note about this stylish new edit he put together, a description of why he chose the tunes, and some context, complete with social media assets and frame grabs. He is literally the managing editor here at this point.

So without further gushing, check out Oscar’s new edit “Heads Will Roll” and stand with me in awe of his creative drive and always pleasant style and approach.—Travis

Couple words from Oscar about the edit: I had some footage from a few surfs around the east coast of NSW in small waves. I wasn’t planning on doing anything til I did the right point stuff clip but since being out injured and in between doing physio, few free anti-racist shirts that I’ve been making and other stuff I decided to cut a short clip with Jackson Jones to show some surfing. It’s a bit more fast paced I guess and little different from my more complete wave type of cruisey stuff that I think I enjoy and what some people think is all I like — when I actually appreciate all types of surfing... but not all types of attitudes.

This is basically just some turns and if people want airs you can’t get better than Chip and those freaks or kids like Eli and Jackson Dorian, it’s messed up how wild those kids are. But like I said I appreciate all surfing and at moment I really dig  watching clips of Lee Wilson and Kalani Ball plus all the ones I always mention. Oh and Jai Glindeman — fuck he’s so good he’s already one of the best surfers in Australia regardless of age.—Oscar
